Here’s that video for ya!

If you’re not sure what a favicon is - don’t worry. You’ve actually seen them before, even if you didn’t know what they’re called.

A favicon is the tiny image that appears in your browser bar. New Squarespace websites have a default black cube for a favicon.

You can design and upload your own custom favicon for your site, which is a simple step that will help you look more legit.

Ok, now that we know a little more about favicons let’s get logged into Squarespace and add a custom one!

Add a Favicon to Squarespace Site

Once you’re logged into your Squarespace website you’ll want to go to Settings in the bottom left column.

Here is where you’ll upload your favicon file. You also have the option to upload a separate favicon for Dark Mode (this is optional).

Something to note is that Squarespace recommends using a 100KB or less PNG file sized between 100x100 and 300x300 pixels. Keep these dimensions in mind when designing your favicon.

Once your favicon is uploaded it will display like this. Don’t forget to click Save!

Don’t be alarmed if you don’t see your new favicon appear in your browser bar right away.

It can take a few days for your browser to update (Chrome, Edge, Safari, etc.) You might also need to clear your cache before it will appear.

Wrap Up

Ok, it’s as easy as that!
